Bento #184 - Lunch

Top tier: Corn, fish tofu & peaches.  Bottom tier:  Rice, sugar beans and stir fried pork.  Her FIRST lunchbox note (insert)

This is one of my favourite bento-s! I usually make a bear shaped or a girl's face for my princess so this time I thought of making a caterpillar. I didn't tell her it was a caterpillar and she got it right! I mixed the rice with denbu to make it pinky and rolled into balls.  The little flowers are Japanese fishcakes.

This is also the FIRST time I wrote a lunchbox note for her and she was very happy.  I know she was a little jealous the last time she saw me writing a note for Z.  I explained to her that every time after preparing the bento, I didn't have time to write the note.  So this time, I wrote the note before I prepare it.  I thought of writing a note to go with their bento-s quite some time ago but never do it till now.  Lazy mommy! 

Bento #183 (2 sets) - 2nd Recess Bento

In the boxes: hotdog buns with Japanese ham, grapes and pretzels.

Simple bento for their 2nd recess. First time see Japanese ham in NTUC (or maybe it has been there all along and I never noticed) and asked my LZ if they want to try it.  Since they are willing to try new food, I bought it.

It looked like lots of food ya, for their 2nd recess?  They finished everything!  probably both sets of bento contains their favourite food (Ham & cold noodles).

Bento #182 (2 sets) - Lunch

In the boxes: Cold soba, quail eggs, mini crab cream, grapes and strawberries. Soba sauce & mayo for Z are not in the pic.

It is no fun preparing 4 bento-s in the morning!  I will be posting their 2nd sets of bento in the next post. It was a mad rush and my kitchen was in a mess!  I can't prepare my bento-s in the dining area (which is my usual place where I arrange the food) as LZ were having their breakfast there.

So there's no cute bento for them on Mondays.  Sometimes they do ask for food that needs more time to prepare and I have to say no.  But sometimes I can't bear to say no when they say "Pleaseeeeee!"  For instance today, hey want to have cold noodles.  So I have to think of easier bento for the 2nd recess and also food that will 'survive' for hours.

The reason they have their lunch for 1st recess is they told me they usually can't finish their lunch bento-s, which is about  2 hours later.  So I decided to let them have their lunch for 1st recess and a lighter snack for 2nd recess.  When I do that, they don't waste any food at all.

Bent #181 - Lunch

 In the container: Chicken porridge & watermelon.

老二 asked for Chicken porridge for his packed lunch today and that makes my cooking easy.

Some time ago, LZdaddy bought a pink container for L and couldn't get the green one for Z.  He went to a few supermarkets and managed to get this green one in time for today's bento.   Green is Z's favourite colour.

Bento #180 (2 sets)

In the boxes: Bear shaped pancakes, sausages, golden berries and grapes. Container with syrup and butter.

Simple bento for them today and I ran out of time to 'draw' features for the bear.
