We Cook We Eat

We met up with our friends for lunch and we did marketing together. My friend has been talking abt steaks so we decided to cook western food :) Steaks, salad, baked potatoes etc... YES! We cooked dinner together and it was fun!

Why only we ladies the ones cooking? The guys can cook quite well too but they act blur. Hahaha..... They looked after the kids and watched TV. They sure know how to enjoy life! :) Anyway, we prefer them to be out of the kitchen then we can gossip! Haha! LZ brought some toys along and they played with Javier.

The dinner was great and the company was even better :) I hope we can do this again...

Children's Day Celebration in School

Chocolate cupcakes with icings

I baked cupcakes again, my girl's request :) Wanted to make donuts for their classmates but she likes cupcakes. I baked 48 cupcakes till 3+am and woke up at 8am to put on the icings. Very tired.... But looking at my LZ's face, I know it is worth it! :)
Z had his self made binoculars. He only allowed me to take one pic of him with his jiejie

For the kindergarten section, they held a sport day event. L told me they were divided into group and had fun playing the games. For the nursery, the Disney Clubhouse were invited to the school. They watch a show and play games too.

Lantern Festival

This is the 1st year that we went to Chinese Garden on Lantern Festival Day itself (yesterday). The atmosphere is definitely better :) We enjoyed the stroll in the park and looking at the huge lanterns. Besides looking at lanterns, there was a fun fair in the garden too and LZ had fun taking the rides.

Let the video do the talking ;)

Z & Daddy

This pic was taken last week and I forgot to post it here... We were waiting for L's ballet lesson to end and I saw Z sitting on daddy's lap. Can't resist taking this :) I love their sideburns! Their side view very similar except that daddy has dimple :)

Last Friday, I received my 1st oversea spree parcel! Bought for L :) and I am so glad that it fit her so well!

Who Likes Mooncake?

Just want to note down that Z had mooncake for the 1st time and he loves it! Especially the ones with egg yolk, just like Daddy :) He remembered what daddy told him, have the mooncake with chinese tea!

L is just like me, never like mooncakes and we love to eat the 'piglet' :)

You Are A BIG Boy

That's what happen when you want you little ones to help out.

In our bedroom
Daddy: Z, please pass these (some letters) to mommy

Z was 'relaxing' on our bed
Z: Daddy, you are a big boy already. You are not a baby, you can do it yourself. (with a smile)

Daddy: ........... (speechless)

We have been telling him that he has to do things on his own, now that he is a big boy. See what happen? Hahaha....

Church Performance

I recorded the actual day event on my video cam and hence can't post it here... This is from one of their rehearsals, L (2nd row on the left) wearing a pink top & dark green skirt, Z (front row left corner) wearing a dark blue t-shirt & beige bottom (recorded using my hp). Pics will be posted later...

Yes, today L did another performance :) It is LZ first performance together and they did it with sign language. It was also Z 1st performance on stage and he is the youngest(the rest are kindergarten/primary school) :) They have been practicing for weeks on Sundays....

Before the service ended, the VK children came on stage and began their performance. I half expected stage fright from Z but to my surprise, he was very calm. He definitely did better than rehearsals. L, as usual, enjoyed it :) She is a performer! The kids did very well and I am so proud of them! The purpose of the performance was to get more volunteers to help out and I hope they will achieve it. After the performance, we were served lunch, courtesy from the church. Not only that, the kids were given pressies for a job well done. Thank you :)

To reward them, we went for the show Ratatouille! They were thrilled! It has been a busy weekend.... Now, I can relax a little before Z's concert :)

Graduation

Today is the BIG day for my little princess :) A day that LZdaddy & me look forward to! Weeks of practice and we finally get to see it today!

We arrived school @ 1435hr as she needs to report at 1500hr. The concert began at 1600hr and it is free seating. I think all parents think alike, be there early to get good seats. There was already people queuing to go into the hall! We were glad that we were early too. At 1515hr, we were allowed to go into the hall and how glad I was! It was very hot queuing outside especially with Z in tow. I asked Z what would he do when he sees jiejie coming out and he said he would cheered very loudly for her! And he did just that! "Jiejie! Jiejie!" :)

At 1600hr, everyone was seated down and the concert began.... The Principal, Pastor and an Educator gave speeches before the kids perform. The children marched in from the back of the hall.. Have you ever seen 160 children all dressed in white? It was fantastic! The ceremony definitely began with a BANG! It was emotional event too.... I teared when I saw my girl marched in and I teared when I heard the speech made by the Principal..... Then I teared when it was my girl's turn to give the welcome speech :) She looked so beautiful! She didn't made any mistakes at all and she looked so confident :) As the stage can't accommodate 160 children, L's class was honoured to be standing on the stage. They sang songs and hymes....

Then we waited patiently for L's class to perform as there was 8 classes graduating.. They were the last class to perform and it is the best performance of all. *proud* mommy ;) Hehehe.... She never told me that her partner, Michael will be hugging her! Not once, but many times! She was very happy when she was performing and I can sensed that she truely enjoyed it :) There was a part of the dance where Michael teased her and hold her waist! It made all the parents laugh! Gagaga.....

The best part of the concert was when she put on the robe... I teared again when I saw her on stage receiving her cert... I can't believe it that my girl is coming to 6 yrs old! She looks gorgeous and and I am proud to be there for her :) I know I will never forget today.... Some might say it's no big deal (that's one parent told me), saying that they are just graduating from K2... To me, today is a very special day! She is moving on to her next phase of her life and I want to be there for her.

After the ceremony, all the children came out again to sing more songs & hymes.. It was over at 6+pm..... The principal, teachers and the children had put in lots of efforts to make this day a very memorable one. Thank you :) We had dinner @ Mushroom Pot (my kids love it there) to celebrate :)

ps: The pics and video will be posted later. So do come back to check it out :)

He Loves To...

When Z was a toddler, I always let him sit on my foot, holding his hands and swing him up & down.... Till today, he still likes to do that :) Soon I will not be able to hold his weight anymore.... I treasure moments like this with my kids and I will do it as long as I can :)

Lanterns

LZ made these lanterns :) Does that mean I can save $ buying them 1? Gagaga.... No..... I think it will be damaged before the festival coz they have been playing with it!

Don't Stop....

After saying "you are pretty", Z, for the past few days has been telling me "Mommy, you are my sweetie pie!". Wow! I'm on cloud nine! Gagaga.... I wonder where he picked that up? It is definitely not from daddy :)

Keep that coming, Z! I love to hear you sweet talking to me :) So don't stop your sweet talk to me ok? :)

'Mission' Accomplished

After a long day yesterday, we gave LZ a treat to Long John Silver and it was their 1st time having it. They love it!

We have been looking around for her graduation dress for the past 2 weeks, finally we bought one on Sunday and today I bought her shoes! Haiz... Our weekends 'burnt' coz we have been spending so much time looking for it.

My poor babies, went with us to at least 3 different malls in a day(Saturday). Yesterday they have been rehearsing for the performance in church (for next weekend), in fact, they have been practicing hard for the past few weeks. It was not easy for them, learning the sign language and the songs especially for Z (he is the youngest). Nevertheless, they enjoyed it :) I think LZdaddy and me were the ones that was tired....

We are looking forward to Saturday coz L will be having her graduation concert on that day! Yeah!

L's Castle

L told her teacher that she would like to draw a castle and her wish was granted :) L like the way she blend the sky :)

Z's Spider Artwork

He was very excited to complete his spider since last week :)

After drawing the spider, he used something sharp to scratch on the paper then colour over it, hence the lines on the spider.

It Happen Again!

Just when I taught Z will not hurt himself again(so soon), it happened again! We were at my aunt's place for gathering when we heard him crying loudly.... He fell and knocked onto the cabinet. My dear girl must be very scared that she ran to daddy and said "It wasn't me!" . Daddy was very upset that he hurt himself twice within a week. Me? I was upset too.... It took us some time to calm him down...
Our dinner @ my Aunt's place. Our family friend, Uncle Tong, who is a chef(from Hong Kong) came over to cook a sumptuous dinner for everyone... The main dish was "Peng Cai". Looks good? This was my 1st time trying it and I must say it is very good!
LZ wanted to play with Jus but he was teething and wasn't feeling good. They played with another cousin and they had fun too. Z behaved like a big gorgor, taking care of Andrew :)

Grown Up

L told me she will not be doing the skipping rope segment. I thought she would be very disappointed or upset but I was wrong....

L : Mommy, I will not being doing the skipping rope...

Me : Why? I thought you have been selected long time ago for it?

L : Today Ms Lin says I wouldn't be doing it.... Because I am not good at skipping rope..

Me : Never mind.. You will be dancing and saying your speech on that day. Let others have a chance to do it ok?

L : OK.... (smile)

Me : Are you upset that teacher pull you out from it?

L: No mommy... I don't want to do it too since I am not good at it. Our concert is coming up and I don't want to spoil the whole show.

If my girl is upset, I would have approach the teacher. It is not right for her to pull her out after telling her. Good thing is that my girl is mature and thoughtful :) Sweetie, mommy is so happy that you have been so thoughtful. Keep it up!

Chinese Mini Concert - L

It was time for her mini concert again :) We got a progress report on how she has done for this term and I am proud to say she did well again, As for all! She was very happy performing!

I am more concern with her hanyupinyin as she is quite weak on it. That means I must put in effort to teach her on that.....

Did You Feel It?

It was at 7+ pm when I feel the tremors.... Z and me was in the room. I thought I felt the room was swaying but I brushed it off, thinking it must be I was feeling giddy. Then my dad called to ask if I feel the tremors and it confirmed what I thought was true. I told him it must have been an earthquake in Indonesia.. I asked L and she said she noticed it too except Z, he was still crying...

I quickly turned on the TV and watched news and L joined me. It was the 1st time L feels the tremors.... It must be terrible in Indonesia and I pray for them and hope for no casualty....

Ouch! It Hurt

This evening, Z hurt himself while 'racing' with jiejie to press for the lift. He fell and and hit on the pillar at the side of the lift. He cried and jiejie was in shocked. I was very upset when I saw the cut.... When we got home, I took antiseptic lotion to clean it and applied zambak. It must have been very painful coz he didn't want me to clean it till I said daddy will be angry and he told me to keep it from him. How to hide it from daddy? For sure he will see the wound!

Jiejie felt guilty throughout.... She cried and apologised to didi and me many times.

L (sobbing) : Z, sorry that you are hurt. Jiejie next time will not race with you and I let you press the lift ok? Jiejie should set a good example to you.
I was actually very happy that she said these to him, without me telling her anything....
Z : It's alright... Very painful you know...

She quietly had her dinner as Z insisted that I sit beside him. When I finally get Z to have his dinner, I asked L if she would like to sit with didi. Just as she was sitting down, Z told her "NO!" I guessed he is still mad with jiejie. My poor girl... She looked so sad and I had to 'sweet talk' to her. I think it was not as painful as earlier coz he had 2 chicken drumsticks, a thigh and a big bowl of rice! Or was it my cooking ;-)

I was mad with both of them.... I have told them many times not to run and said one day one of them will fall and get hurt. Well, being a kid they will never listen.... Hope they have learnt a lesson from this. I told daddy just now when he called and when he comes back tomorrow, he will be upset to see the wound.. Anyway, before bedtime, Z was no longer angry with jiejie :)

We Want Daddy

This evening, both of them were crying for a good half hour (or more)... I heard them crying while preparing dinner

Me : What's wrong with both of you? Did you hurt yourselves or what?

Z(crying) : Mommy, I want daddy! I miss him!

L(crying) : We miss daddy.... Why must he always go overseas? We want to see him...

Me : Babies, I miss him too but daddy has to work. Daddy has been away longer than this and I'm sure we can wait for another 2 days. (He went off yesterday only)

I thought they should be used to it by now that daddy travels a lot for work but I was wrong... Last month, daddy was away for 16 days(the longest time) and they were fine...

Z : Daddy! Daddy! (pointing to our wedding pics that were displayed on the wall) I want see him now and talk to him! (still crying)

L : Me too! I want to talk to him and also want daddy to read us stories.... (crying and sitting close to didi)

Me : Don't cry ok babies? Before bedtime, we will try to call daddy and both of you can say goodnight to him and tell him how much you miss him. Now be good ok?

Finally I see smiles on their faces :)

Before bedtime, I tried calling daddy but couldn't get him. Both were very disappointed and I promised them tomorrow morning they will hear from him.

I started to get worried when I can't reached him for the next 2 hours... His hp was OFF and I don't even know which hotel is he staying! As he is in Pakistan, my thought began to run wild... I sure hope nothing happen to him... Then my hp rang! He apologised (after reading my sms) for not calling earlier as he was out the whole day and his hp battery was flat... He promised to call LZ tomorrow morning :)

Daddy has been making effort to spend more time with LZ and his effort paid off :)

Yes, tomorrow my babies will be very happy!

Me & My Cars - Z

Noticed how he arranged his cars? All facing one direction when he pack them into the carrier :) (Recorded on 09092007)

We recently bought this carrier for some of his cars. He likes it very much and carry it with him wherever we go, even in the house!

He loves his cars, trains & puzzles.... He can spend a long time playing with it. Sometimes with jiejie or alone and he prefers these more than TV. When he is playing alone, he likes us to be next to him watching him :)

We Miss Our Gorgor & Jiejie

It has been a while since LZ meet up with their cousins... At last, we all gathered at 2nd BIL's house for dinner... We were late for the dinner as I was preparing the cream cheese chocolates (recipe from Elaine's food blog). LZ were getting impatient as they knew most of their gorgors & jiejies will be there.

Being the youngest ones, everyone dotes on them :) When they saw their favourite jiejies, Pin & Ling, they jumped onto them and gave them BIG hugs! We feel so relaxed when we were there as they were many of them to help us to take care/play with them. The fun continued after LZ's dinner, all the gorgors & jiejies play with them while we take our time to have our dinner. I think they had so much that they forgot we were there! The house were full of laughter and we can hear them teasing each other. As for me, I enjoyed talking to my SILs :)

The happiest person was Ah Mah (my MIL) :) With some of her children and grandchildren back home for gathering... Of coz it will be better if everyone was there :) But some of them were working or overseas.

While I was looking at my nieces & nephews, I thought to myself, time flies.... When I married DH 7 years ago, they were all so young and shorter. Kekeke.... But now, most of them are taller than me and makes me look like a shorty! Hahaha.... Oh yes! They are so gorgeous looking and smart!

Day Out With Yiyi

They love their Yiyi :) And of coz Justin too though they have met him only a few times :) Yiyi gave us a treat @ Jack's Place and we spent time chatting while LZ entertained Jus. At the table, LZ insisted sitting next to Justin. Z was upset that he didn't get to sit next to him :( After a while then he decided to sit down, and that was after I promised him that he will sit next to Jus and let him play with him (after lunch).... See how popular Jus is with my kids.... He is sooo adorable and always smile when you call his name :)

L loves to play with the younger ones and she takes very good care of them. She is very gentle with them and to the younger ones, she is very entertaining :) She will makes them laugh, giggle and sing with her. Z, he loves younger ones too. Initially, he doesn't know how to play or handle them so he follows what jiejie does, make funny faces and cooing them :) Now he is pretty good at playing with them.

I think I haven't been carrying baby for a long time.... While we were shopping and I carried Jus for half hour, I told my cousin I can't take it... It shows that I need to exercise more! I love to carry babies and I missed those times when I carried LZ... Especially when they dozed off while I was holding them :)

You Are Pretty

Z has been very generous with his compliments.... Today while out shopping, He said many times "mommy, you are so pretty". I think he said at least 10 times to me today! He said it while we were walking down the road, looking at things etc...

He loves to say "I love you mommy" too and he will also compliment me after I change my outfit before heading out :) Oh yes! He still says that I am a princess :) Simple words and it brighten my day! My boy, don't stop saying these to me ok? I love to hear it!

I treasure these times when he says all these things to me... As I know when he grows up, he will probably be saying it to his girlfriends and not me... Kekeke...

Shopping

We meet up with Godma after lunch @ Paragon to shop for L's white dress today.... Godma has 'missing' for such a long time and LZ missed her.. They have been asking where is godpa & godma... They will not get to see godpa till next week when he is back from Australia and he has been away for more than a month! Godma, on the other hand has been back for 2 week or so... She has been lazy to go out and busy with her Warcraft! Godma, they miss you so don't hibernate at home!

LZ were well behaved during the shopping and there were times when Z said he was tired and wanted me to carry him so I said "Tired? Then we will go home ok?" . He replied immediately with his eyes wide opened "Now I'm not tired!".. Hahaha.... Z loves shopping just us! Or was it because of the company? :) Besides looking at clothes, we also went looking at toys so LZ will not be bored...

We had our dinner at Swensen and both were 'fighting' to sit with godma :) I have been talking to godma while waiting for dinner to be served and LZ were playing their gameboy. Then L said "mommy, can you stop talking to godma?" Babies, I missed her too you know... After dinner, daddy picked us up and we sent godma back home. LZ fell asleep on the way home :) It was a great evening for all of us :) and I still can't find the white dress...

Why Ask?

Last week I asked L

Me : Sweetie, do you want to keep your fringe long or shall we cut it?

L : I like to go to the salon(smile)! So I want to cut it...

Me : But mommy thought of keeping your fringe as long as your hair... So we can tie everything up.

L : Then why you ask me? You asked me and you don't want me to cut it (smile)! (putting her hand on her forehead)

Me : Sorry... I just ask for fun! Hahaha....

Naughty me right? I asked her but don't give her a choice!

M&M's Chocolate Cookie

I bought 1 packets of the M&M's yesterday and Z asked if we can make cookies today. Without thinking, I said OK.... Since morning, LZ has been asking when we are going to bake and so we started baking in the afternoon...

Recipe from M&M's

Ingredients:

- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar *I used slightly less*
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 3/4 cup M&M
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Methods:

- preheat oven to 180C/350F
- lightly grease cookie sheet
- cream butter & sugars till light and fluffy
- combine flour, cocoa powder, salt & baking soda, mix well
- Add it to cream mixture
- Stir in M&M and nuts
- place abt tbs each onto tray, then bake in oven for 12-14mins for chewy cookies or 14-16mins for crispy cookies
- cool 1 min on tray then cool on wire rack

We tried both the chewy and crispy ones and we find that the chewy ones taste better.

We started munching on it as soon as it was out of the oven! If you have time, do try it out with your kids :) Not only my LZ love it, my friend's kids (I gave some to them) love it too!

What's your EQ?

Your EQ is 133

50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick!
51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese.
71-90: You've got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely.
91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.
111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt.
131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.
150+: Two possibilities - you've either out "Dr. Phil-ed" Dr. Phil... or you're a dirty liar.

LZdaddy and me have the same score!

Weekends

Saturday

We meet up with Boon's family at Raffles City for shopping. As I have mentioned in the previous post, L wants to get a white dress coz she needs it for her graduation concert this month. Not only it has to be white, it has to be a short sleeve dress that is below the knee. She has a few white dresses but all of it are sleeveless :( I can't find it at the mall near my house and I remembered there is a pushcart at Raffles City that sells white dresses but disappointed that they don't have any...

Does anyone knows where to get it? I would appreciate if you can help :)

After shopping, we went to one of the restaurant at the basement for dinner. They served very good roast duck but the place was very small.. I can't recall what was the restaurant name... Anyway, I walked pass the donuts shop was shocked to see the queue!

Sunday
LZ stayed longer than usual in the church today (and for the next few Sundays) as they will be performing on the 23rd September. I think my kids are busier than me! They are also preparing for their school concert too... Z is the youngest to be performing and he looks so cute on stage trying to follow/remember the signs (they will be performing songs with sign language) :) L looks like she enjoys it too! Just hope that they will not have stage fright on that day!
LZdaddy mentioned that Oasis will be closing down soon (correct me if I'm wrong).... So we decided to go there for the Teochew porridge. Lucky we were there at 6pm and there was ample parking lots and we got a table with good view. What a pity that they decided to tear down this place. I remembered my dad used to bring us here quite often when we were very young...
