Grade 3 Classical Ballet Exam

It's time of the year for L to go for her ballet exam again... Frankly, she's not well prepared this year.   With so much school work load, at times she had to skip ballet practices.  She told me she's not confident at all..  I told her as long as she did her best.  Another thing was she wasn't confident dancing without her glasses!

This year, we also missed her ballet open house.  So I didn't manage to capture all the moves she practiced for the exams.  Here's a video of her revising her solo dance with her friends.

Regardless of the result, we know you did your best girl.

His First Assembly

Beanie was very reluctant to go to the hall for his FIRST assembly.  He refused to look at the front where Ms B was talking.  Hopefully he will be better the next time.

Beanie @ 37 Months

Little one is getting cheekier nowadays....  Giving us cheeky looks or cheeky remarks/replies. He brings so much laughter and joy to us, especially at this time when I need it most...  Well, let's not talk about it.

(7th Mar) While waiting for the lift, L walked over to him and touched his head.
He turned to me and 'complained' (with a frowning look): Mommy!  Jiejie hit my head!
L: NO!  I touched your head only!
I saw what happened and told him the same thing too.
He turned around and cheekily said:  Just kidding!  Haha....
That is soooo him lately! He loves to use the phrase "just kidding".

(9th Mar) His name is getting longer nowadays.  He often comes up with his ideas of how we should address him, such as Policeman hunter ZR (his name) etc.  If we don't, he will refuse to respond to us.  He latest name :  Cute cute boy fireman ZR!

♥ He loves to explain to me the different parts of the toys/lego that he fixed. I bought him a lego board so that he can fix his so called city on it and he explains what is on the board (eg police station, fire station etc)

♥ (19th Mar)  My sweet little one said:  Fireman ZR protect (and) rescue mommy!
Sometimes when we play, I pretend I am in trouble and need help.

♥ He made up a fireman song, which he changes the lyrics all the time!  Haha...

♥ I have a mini library in my car, books to keep him busy while waiting for LZ.  We read books and also discuss what we see in the pics.

♥ He is into photography lately...  He took pics of stuffs that probably he doesn't why and what are those after looking at it too.

♥ He has a favourite spot to take pics.  That is at my BIL's hse! Every week when we are there, he will go to the side of the stairs and said "mommy!  Take pic of me!"

Inaugural All Women's Chess Challenge 2012

I signed up my kiddos for this event but Z wasn't very keen to take part in this event initially.  Why?  As the name says, ALL WOMEN'S!  Haha!  I explained to him there's an invitational category for family members of the women's category, be it brothers, cousins or daddy.  And so, I managed to convince him to take part in this Challenge with L.

1st round, Z played against a rated player and he won!  Needless to say he was happy!
L was very 'lucky' for this competition, she only played against 1 rated player.  Of coz to my kiddos, they are happy if they played with less of these rated players.  But to the coach, it is better for them to play more with rated ones, that means they are getting better and also it trains them to be better as well.
L chatted with some of the girls that were regulars at competitions.  What they gained most from taking part in these competitions are friendship and experiences.
2nd round, Z played against this player and he used scholar's mate to beat his opponent.  A tactic which they beat their opponents in/or less than 7 moves (correct me if I'm wrong)
5th round, L played against Janice, who is the youngest girl for this competition.  She may be young but she has plenty of experience.
We had our Prime Minister Lee visiting us at the competition!
The kiddos, as well as the adults were all so excited!
Managed to capture a shot of LZ with our PM Lee!
Z played against Dylan, his pal from chess class.   This was the first time the pals met in one of the rounds.   He was so happy he won!

Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar, Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC and the GRC’s Grassroots Organization’s Adviser gave out the prizes this evening...
We were so surprised when the result was announced!  Z was in the 6th position in the Invitational Category!  I thought he did pretty well, not forgetting there were a few adults in that category and he managed to draw with a player with more than 1200 rating.
Well done my boy!  Of coz I know you would love to have a trophy instead of a medal.  Haha...  You time will come ok?  Just do your best in every competition!
As for my girl, I'm equally surprised too!  She was in the 9th position for the U12 category!
Well done my girl!  I'm very proud of you too!  You played against a rated player for the last round and you draw with her!
This is also the FIRST time LZdaddy & Beanie was there to witness LZ going on stage to receive their prizes!  It was raining heavily when the competition ended but that didn't dampen their moods!

L's result: (22)

Rd 1 (bd 6) - Chan Xue Ning lost
Rd 2 (bd 8) - Chen Liwen won
Rd 3 (bd 8) - Claire Ng lost
Rd 4 (bd 9) - Nicale Yee won

His FIRST 'Official' Haircut

The very first time he was at a hair salon,  he was only 4 months old (I think, too lazy to look through my old posts).  That time, it was to shave his head bald.  Hence, this is the very FIRST time he sit in the salon for a proper haircut.

Enjoying the show, Tom & Jerry while having his haircut.
I never have problem with my 2 older ones at a salon so I hope he won't be the exception.   He has been complaining about his fringe poking his eyes, so I told him he needs a haircut.  I also explained to him what to expect at the salon, highlighting about the lollipop & the TV!  Haha!  Another thing about Beanie is he likes me to say "mama sooooo PROUD of you!"  So he knows if he he behaves or does something well, I would definitely say that.  If your kiddos don't like cutting hair, perhaps you can try it.
Ta da! Here's his new haircut!  Nice?  Actually I was quite disappointed that it was a tad too short, especially the sides...  Nevertheless my baby looks so charming!  Ah-hem!  *thick skinned mommy again!*
