L's Mini "Concert"

L had a mini "concert" for her chinese enrichment class and parents were invited. It was to let us know what have they been learning and and at the same time teacher did a assessment and discuss with us too.

L completed one of the designated syllabus and below is her assessment based on that.

Listening Ability - A
Speaking Ability - A
Reading Ability - A
Assessment Grade - Very Good

Teacher praised her, saying that L is very keen to learn and she capture fast. She also said that L is a very active child and she's wondering where her energy comes from coz after 1 1/2 her of lesson and performance, she is still running around! Not forgetting that the lesson was after school too! Must be on the chocolates, fatty meat, durians & chili crabs etc that I had when I was pregnant with her! Gagaga....

I am very happy with her progress :) When she speaks mandarin, she doesn't have that slang anymore!

I Will Never Know

Of coz! How can forget abt my boy's artwork, he did this, it's a Japanese cartoon character

Z : Mommy, my pic! See?
Me : Oh! That's a cute pic! Is that a chubby mouse?
Z : No
Me : A cat?
Z : No ( he is wondering what that is too)
Me : (I gave up) Why don't you ask you teacher what is that?
Z : OK!
He happily went to his teacher and asked
Z: Teacher, what is this? (pointing at it)

Teacher told him but he has no clue what that is and when teacher told me, I have no idea too! All I know is, it is a Japanese cartoon character. Think I will never know what that is......

L's Jewellery

L did this in her art lesson. She told me how she did it. Now my girl is teaching me instead! :)

- Choose colours of your choice, then paint it in strips

- cut it into thin strips

- using a pencil/pen/brush, roll it and glue it

- string it to your desire length & tie it (for the bracelet, use elastic string)

Ta Da! You get your homemade jewellery!

Flower Festival - Sentosa

I forgot about the Flower Festival @ Sentosa (Imbiah Lookout) till L mentioned it. The theme was about nursery rhymes. Her teacher was telling about the shoe house and she's been bugging me about it. Today was the last day of the event and I told LZDaddy that we must go. We skipped visiting today and it was a good time for family bonding.

We had great fun till it started raining at 5+, anyway we have seen all the display. Pics will tell you more!

捞鱼生

We were invited to our friends place for steamboat. They even prepared Yu Sheng! This was LZ 1st time joining in 捞鱼生. Good thing Shirley prepared newspaper on the floor, with the kids joining in, it was messy. We were all busy that none of us took picture. L never liked 鱼生 since young and I was surprised to see her eating it. Think probably she was involved too so she was keen to try it.

After dinner, L & Z watched "Open Season" with me while the rest was gambling. If they were playing MJ, I will be the 1st one at the table! I think I get to play MJ only once a year, pathetic right? :)

Our New Year Celebration

LZ have been sleeping late and I am glad that they are back into their routine. We have been visiting relatives & friends, it was tiring but fun. We had to do lots of visiting this year as we woke up late on 1st day of CNY. I can't believe we woke up late!

Our friends came over to our house on the 2nd day evening.
My Auntie asked: So what did you cook for your friends?
Me: Errrr.... KFC lah!
Her reply: Huh? You invited your friends to your house and you ask them to eat KFC?
Where do I have time to cook? I have been visiting the whole day. Besides, I just cleaned my kitchen thoroughly and I don't want to mess it up during CNY. My dear friends, if you are reading this, pls pardon me ya...

We played MJ & card games till wee hours and L & Z were very disciplined, they went to bed after shower. They made me proud! I know some kids refused to go to bed when there are guests in the house.

Noticed L wore dresses in the pics? Well, she has been telling me lately that she prefers to wear dresses so I had to hunt around for it. As for Z, He is quite OK with what I bought for him. I love the outfits they wore on the 1st day. Z's outfit was bought by Ah Ma from China 2yrs ago and it fit him only now. L's outfit was from Vietnam (obviously), daddy bought it on a business trip.

Yet to complete our rounds of visiting, we will probably be visiting our relatives/friends till CNY is over.....

Lion Dance

We managed to see Lion dance today! L & Z were very excited! Dong Chang Dong Chang..... Now that's New Year!

Reckless Driver

We were on our way to Ikea when we were almost had a car accident..... We saw it was red light for the opposite direction and thought it was safe to do a U-turn and especially there was a big truck ahead of us. When DH was making the turn, we saw a car coming towards us, it was so close! It almost bang onto my side!

For that few seconds, I thought that's it! I'm going to die (silly me).... Is my boy alright( he was sitting behind me)? What will happen to my babies? Who will take care of them? etc.... I can't leave my hubby & my babies! DH was very mad! How could the driver be so reckless? It took me quite some time to calm down. Thank God all of us were alright..... Good thing we put on our seat belts and LZ were on their car seats too. DH apologised but I told him it wasn't his fault and he shouldn't blame himself. It was red light for that driver and it was supposed to be safe for us to to turn!

Thinking back, I thought I think too much. Maybe I did..... But at that moment, all those thoughts just came to me. I don't want anything to happen to my love ones. I have to take good care of myself, so that I will be around for DH and my babies. I can't bear to leave them....... And I hope they feel the same way too.

New Year Ride

Our Valentine Night

We wanted to have dinner at the mall but all restaurants were full house so decided to go to the airport since both of them have not been there for a long time. Well, all restaurants were full house too at the airport!

Daddy feels bad but I told him we had our Valentine dinner on Sunday. It was ok with me but my poor babies waiting a long time for dinner, so we decided to have Macdonald in our car! Gagaga.... It was funny! L & Z enjoyed their dinner in the car while watching TV and we chatted.

Though it was nothing fantastic, we had fun looking at the planes and having our dinner in the car! :D

Question

While walking home from school....

L : Mommy, why are there bad guys? ( she was very serious)
Me : ....... (I was silent for awhile)
L : Why God make bad guys?
I have to think carefully what to say to her
Me : Not that God make bad guys, sweetie. If you follow and listen to God, you will not be a bad guy. Sometimes, people know it's wrong but they chose that. You always have to think of the consequences when you want to do something. Why did you ask?
L : I was wondering....
L : I will be good, mommy.I don't want to be a bad guy.

Oh my! I have never expect her to ask me such tough question! I hoped I did answer her question well....

Lovely Dinner

After LZ attended the church programme, we decided to go to East Coast for seafood. I told daddy to treat it as a Valentine dinner. Why not? Since that day will be a weekday and 老夫老妻了， we don''t have to make a big fuss about it. It will be Valentine''s Day everyday so long we are happy together and besides that, there will be no one to help us to look after LZ.

We were happy that we got a table that was next to the window. Looking at people jogging, blading and strolling. We spent 2 hours having our dinner, eating seafood and especially my favourite, chilli crabs. LZ were very well behaved throughout and we appreciate that. In fact nowadays having meals with them are wonderful, they are eating on their own and they don''t need much attention.

Javier's 1St Birthday

In the evening, we went to Pair Ris to attend Javier's party. We were very happy to see Z! We missed him.... He was having such a good time with godparents. I was glad to hear compliments about my boy, that he was very well behaved.

As usual, birthday boy doesn't know what's happening around him. He was cool! It wasn't easy for me take a pic of him, I have to take care of my kids while trying to do that. L helped Auntie Shirley to give out the goodie bags. L is such a helpful girl!

Quality Time With L

This morning when L woke up, she told me that she missed her bro. Me too....

L watched TV while I did packing. She told me she would like to have Macdonald for lunch and so we went. When we were there, L asked if we can get another toy for Z. That was very sweet of her. We made a video call to Z and found out they had Macdonald for lunch too! After lunch we did shopping and she had her fringe trimmed.... Then she told me, "mommy, I enjoyed going out with you." My heart melt.... I wondered will it be the same when she grows up. Will she enjoy it as much as now? I hope she will.....

Godma's Birthday

We celebrated godma's birthday at Waterfront, a buffet treat from her. LZ enjoyed it very much especially the fondue. Being able to spend 2 hours for dinner was great! My babies has grown up! Thereafter, we went to their house for the cake.

When it was time to go home, Z said "NO"! So godparents asked if it's ok for him to stay overnight. Why not? L had stayed with them once and he probably remembered. I went home with mixed feeling.... Sad that my boy, who has never stay overnight elsewhere without me, asked for that. Happy, coz I can spend some time alone with L.....

By the time we got home, it was past midnight.... Better get some sleep as tomorrow, I have to continue with my spring cleaning.

CNY Crafts From Art Class

They have been looking forward throughout the week to complete their dragons and they finally did! I had a hard time trying to get Z to show his face while holding his masterpiece. Gagaga....

I intend to find a nice place to put up their dragons so our guests can see it. Proud mommy... Hehehe...

Few Hours To Myself

It was very sweet of my parents to offer to take care of LZ while I spent some time at the salon. It was nice to feel pampered.... Wished I can go to the spa too. Too much to ask for, isn't it? Hehehe....

When is the next time that I can do that again? I wonder...... When Weekends come, I would prefer to spend time with my hubby and LZ then to be alone. DH offered that but I'm quite reluctant to spend hours away from them. Haiz... Mommy is very confused.

My parents cooked and showered for them. By the time I picked them up, they were ready for bed! They had a wonderful time bonding with grandparents. Thank you, Dad & Mom for helping out. :)

Control Your Movement

Yesterday, while Z was colouring....

Me : Z, try to colour within the lines ok?
Z : Yes, I must control my movement.
Me :" Huh? What did you say?
Z : control my movement... Cannot colour outside the line.
He was still doing his colouring while talking to me.
Me : Oh... Who thought you that?
I was surprised that he say that. He usually says "cannot colour outside the line.
Z : Mrs Lee teach me. She says must control my movement.

Great to know that he is paying attention in class, taking teacher's advice and keen to improve. I love you Baby! :)

Homework

Everyday, L & Z will have homework from school and sometimes I give them extra (only if they are not tired or they want more).

As soon as we reach home...
Z : Mommy, I want do my homework. ( while he was talking, he took out his work from the file)
Me : Huh? Why don't you have your snack first?
Z : No! I want do my homework first!
Me : OK......

Note: I'm still in my going out clothes.... Not giving me time to change.

Sometimes, after finishing his school homework.....

Z : Mommy, I want to do more!
Me : Why don't you rest first?
Z : No! I want to do more!
Me : (Sign....) OK. What would you like to do?

We were happy especially daddy that he shows great interest in learning, just like jiejie or more. Hope this will last though.... Gagaga....

Spelling

L had her 1St spelling test on 30th Jan, Tuesday and there was 5 words. She scored full marks! She had her spelling (6 words) today and she did it again. Well done, sweetie!

She has been learning spelling like months (January, February,etc....) and numbers, These were taught by me. We usually do it while we were walking to school, having a chat, or showering. She shows great interest in learning. Nowadays, she try to write in sentences too and if she doesn't know how to spell the words, she will ask and she usually can remember. Sometimes, while we were chatting, we talked about who's birthday is on which month and then she will try spelling it.

She learning more compared to her previous school. I'm glad that we made the decision to change them to another school. She used to come telling me she did nothing in school but now, she has been telling what they did and when teachers praise her.

Our Weekends

Saturday - Since both were sick, we decided to stay at home and I can do spring cleaning. They watch TV and sleep while I was doing spring cleaning. I appreciate DH for spending time with them while I clean.

In the evening, while I was resting in bed ( having a very backache after all the ups & downs), L was very sweet. She told Z :
L : Didi, mommy has been cleaning all day, we let mommy rest OK? Don't disturb her.
Z : OK, jiejie....
L : Come with me, Let's pack up our playroom. Our turns now to do something. Daddy, you never do anything so you pack also.
Daddy : .........
Me : Sweetie, daddy has been working you know. You can't say that daddy never do anything, right?

They seemed to think daddy wasn't doing anything coz daddy was watching TV with them and clearing things at the same time. Think I better remind them once in a while that daddy has been working to earn money.

Yeah.... Z help by packing some of his cars and then carry on playing. L pack up all the toys, putting them back in their respective boxes..... My sweet little girl, helping out when she can..... When she asked me to take a look at their playroom, I was very touched. Oh Yes! She drew a little pic for me too! Saying that it was a reward for me. Gagaga....

Sunday - They went for the free programme at the church (where their school are) since last week and both enjoyed it. This week, L told me she would like to go again so we sent her there. As for Z, he was drowsy after medication so we let him rest. I sat thru the programme and I must say it was a very enriching. They did songs, bible lessons and games. We were glad that their teachers and principal were there too.
In the evening, we went to Great World City to do marketing and shopping. Glad that we bought their shoes for new year. See what they were doing while we shopping?

My Babies Are Sick

Both were down with runny nose and cough.... Hiaz..... Z was worst coz he had diarrhoea and fever too. Good thing is that both were full of energy. I expected them to be very grouchy....

We went to the clinic at noon and had our lunch at the coffeeshop. It was the 1ST time we had our lunch at the coffee shop without daddy. Sometimes we go to Han's or hawker centre without daddy too.

Let's hope they will recover soon.....
